In Your House 3 (retroactively titled In Your House 3: Triple Header)[2] was a professional wrestlingpay-per-view (PPV) event produced by the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), which took place on September 24, 1995, at the Saginaw Civic Center in Saginaw, Michigan. It was the third pay-per-view of the In Your House series and consisted of ten professional wrestling matches.

The main event of the show featured all three active championships in the WWF at the time being defended. The WWF World Heavyweight ChampionDiesel teamed up with the WWF Intercontinental ChampionShawn Michaels and they were slated to take on the reigning WWF Tag Team ChampionsYokozuna and Owen Hart in a match where the person who was pinned would lose the championship. As part of the storyline the WWF replaced Owen Hart with The British Bulldog, due to Hart's wife being in labor. In the end Owen Hart did appear at the show and was pinned to end the match, but since he was not deemed the legal man in the match, the next night on Raw, the WWF Tag Team Championship was awarded back to Hart and Yokozuna.

The PPV portion of the show featured six matches in total and the WWF held four additional matches that were only seen by the people in the arena. With the launch of the WWE Network in 2014 the PPV section became available to subscribers to view on demand.

Storylines[edit]

The professional wrestling matches at In Your House 3 featured professional wrestlers performing as characters in scripted events pre-determined by the hosting promotion, World Wrestling Federation (WWF). Storylines between the characters played out on WWF's primary television programs, Monday Night Raw.[3][4]

Event[edit]

In the main event, three championships were on the line: Diesel's WWF World Heavyweight Championship, Shawn Michaels' WWF Intercontinental Championship, and Yokozuna and Owen Hart's WWF Tag Team Championship. If Diesel had been pinned, he would have lost the WWF World Heavyweight Championship and if Michaels had been pinned he would have lost the Intercontinental Championship. On the night of the show the WWF announced that The British Bulldog had to replace Owen Hart in the match, as Hart was with his wife at the hospital, as she was giving birth to their second child.[1] Near the end of the match it was revealed that this was just a storyline as Owen Hart rushed to the ring in full wrestling gear and interfered in the match. Moments later Diesel pinned Owen Hart to win the match and supposedly win the tag team championship, but it was later announced that while Diesel and Michaels did win the match they did not win the tag team championship as Owen Hart was not the legal man in the match.[1]

Aftermath[edit]

The following month's In Your House, In Your House 4 or October 22, 1995, saw Diesel successfully defend the WWF World Heavyweight Championship against the British Bulldog as they concluded the storyline feud between the two that had been building since the Bulldog turned on Diesel in August of that year.[5] At the same show it was revealed that Shawn Michaels was unable to compete after being in a fight with a number of Marines and he had to forfeit the WWF Intercontinental Championship to Dean Douglas.[5] Yokozuna and Owen Hart were given the tag team championship belts back after In Your House 3, but lost them to The Smoking Gunns (Billy Gunn and Bart Gunn) a short time later.

In Your House was a pay-per-view (PPV) series created by the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE) that aired from May 1995 to April 1999.

The original concept was that, in months when the WWF was not holding one of its major PPV events (WrestleMania, King of the Ring, SummerSlam, Survivor Series, and Royal Rumble, which at the time ran for three hours and retailed for $29.95), they would offer a two-hour PPV, priced at US$14.95. The price was raised to $19.95 starting in December 1995 with In Your House 5. The WWF did this in response to a move by competitor World Championship Wrestling (WCW) to increase their annual pay-per-view events (in 1995, WCW held 9 PPV events; in 1996, 10 and finally started airing monthly events in 1997). Notwithstanding the addition of more WWF events, WCW's events regularly ran between 2.5–3 hours. Starting with Ground Zero: In Your House in September 1997, the WWF expanded all of its In Your House events to three hours, thus matching the runtime of its major PPV events.

The WWF retired the In Your House branding for its monthly pay-per-views following April 1999's Backlash: In Your House event, as the company moved to install permanent names for each of its monthly events.

History[edit]

Wwf In Your House 1995 Part 1

The first six In Your House events were not promoted with subtitles, which were retroactively added later (given below in small print), sometimes making use of a tagline. The first event to officially use a subtitle was the seventh event, 'In Your House 7: Good Friends, Better Enemies'. From September 1997 onwards, the events were no longer numbered and the subtitles replaced the In Your House label as the main titles (e.g. the PPV was not named In Your House: Ground Zero but Ground Zero: In Your House), until regular named shows such as Fully Loaded and Unforgiven took over in 1999.

The WWF gave away a brand-new house in the Hunter's Creek subdivision area in Orlando, Florida on the first PPV to a randomly selected viewer.
